St Nicholas Cole Abbey

I recently did some restoration work for St Nicholas Cole Abbey. It was the first church to be rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London and was completed in 1678 at a cost of £5042! The church was gutted in 1941 by one of the worst air raids of the war and subsequently rebuilt in 1962. The colourful panels were designed by Keith New (who also designed stained glass for Coventry Cathedral). The rest of the church has plain glazing in reamy hand made glass. This changes colour and brightness with the changing weather and has it's own special beauty. The church now has a lovely café selling tea and cakes, a far cry from the building site of earlier this year!
