Getting ready for Open Studios starting this eve...

Twice a year Cockpit Arts throws open the doors and collectively 165 makers show and sell their wares. Crafts range from shoe makers to instrument makers / restorers, fashion, textiles, jewellery, wood turners, ceramics, interior design products and glass! Alongside small panels for sale this year I decided to restore some vintage panels from the late 40's and 50's. It's a period of time often neglected. Times were hard, rationing still existed to 1954 and with over a million houses bombed or damaged in London stained glass was very far down on the list of priorities. Slowly though new stained glass did appear but very often it was different to the previous style. Pared down, geometric, with simple stylized features it fitted the budgets of the time but also perhaps looked to a new world, a markedly different one to the hard times people had been through.

Panels for sale from left to right; £150, £150, £120, £35.

Also on sale will be the vintage 1920's panels below with some unusual translucent glasses.
From left to right £50, £45, £50.
